Blackjack – Basic Strategy

Blackjack is not one of those games where you go in there thinking “I’m going to take this black jack home, I think I can win” and then bang your head against the wall and end up broke. If the person is acting like they have a strong hand and you have doubts, then call. Of course, if they aren’t playing for anything but their own pride, you should fold.

Of course, you have to know when to fold as well. That is another part of the blackjack game. When it comes to folding, you should generally wait until you have either doubled or triple your initial bet. This allows you to gain some money and let the other person try to catch you with more money. However, if you fold too early, this could signal that they have a better hand, and may even be trying to win you the game with some kind of trick.

Hopefully, you have learned enough about basic strategy to be able to figure out when someone is bluffing, and when you know you are being dealt a real hand. Sometimes, simply observing for a moment can give you the hint you need to call or fold. It’s not worth taking the chance of getting more money on a hand that you believe is bad.
