|Comments:||Tax Relief for Senior Citizens/Elderly Homestead (EHE):
Initially, homeowners 65 or older must apply by providing a copy of their property deed, be living in the home, and responsible for taxes. It is renewed each year in January by returning a renewal notice as provided. This is a $2000 assessment reduction at the time of billing. Homeowners should apply at the time of their 65th birthday, or by August 1, whichever comes first.
Tax Relief for Homeowners/Annual Homestead Limited (AHE):
All homeowners who reside in their own home, have an equitable interest in same, and pay the taxes, MAY be eligible. This exemption is automatic and is referenced by the last four digits of homeowners parcel number. Those ending in 0040, 0010, or 0062 will receive it automatically.
Tax Relief for Improvements/Home Improvement (HIE):
New assessments applied to owner occupied residence may be eligible. Increases due to IMPROVING your property (ie. garage, room addition, swimming pool, etc.) are things that qualify. Homeowners may earn up to four years of exemption, but must apply to the Board of Review, provide receipts for improvements and renew it in January each successive year.
